In the world of leather care, many believe that most of their leather problems and concerns can simply be corrected by cleaning. The dirt & damage that builds up over the years needs the attention of a professional because a trained eye is necessary. In plain fact, the overwhelming majority of these issues can only be addressed in our lab properly over time. Most of all, they require fairly extensive repair and color restoration. For example, the buildup of body oil is seen by most clients as strictly a cleaning issue. However, what they don’t know, is that the oil has penetrated deeper and darkened the leather. The perception is that a leather specialist can simply apply some type of miracle oil remover and the oil will disappear, leaving the leather, color, and finish intact.
In reality, oils must actually be drawn out of the leather by a medium, like a poultice. Finally, this requires a full leather restoration process.
